The North Tahoe Lakers came tearing into Wednesday's game with 11 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Battle Mountain 49-32. That's another feather in the cap for North Tahoe, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead North Tahoe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makenna Alter, who scored 15 points along with six steals and five assists. Alter is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Virginia Gibeaut, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Battle Mountain's loss came despite strong showings from Noel Hill and Jenna Chopp. Hill scored 12 points along with six steals, while Chopp scored six points along with 14 rebounds and six blocks. Hill is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Stevlana Martinez was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.
North Tahoe pushed their record up to 15-2 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. As for Battle Mountain, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Tahoe will face off against the Lions at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Yerington is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games. As for Battle Mountain, they will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Pershing County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
