Kimball dropped down to 4-6 on Wednesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Livermore Cowboys, falling 11-3. If the Jaguars were looking for revenge after losing 12-0 to the Cowboys when the teams met back in February of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Kimball got a good showing from Myles Payawal, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Payawal has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Kimball saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aj Mccarrell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Another was Jayden Aguilar, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
As for Livermore, their record is now 3-4. Considering they have won three matchups by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Livermore's side, Noah Mena looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Mena is becoming a predictor of the Cowboys' success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't).
At the plate, Gavin Guenther was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Grant Weber also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Coming up, Kimball will head out on the road to take on Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Livermore, they will challenge Washington at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Huskies' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Cowboys' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
