St. John Bosco faced Servite in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Braves never let the Friars get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Braves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Jack Champlin was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other pitching news, St. John Bosco gave Cole Knupfer the start and clearly made the right call: he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Knupfer has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in nine consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Miles Clark was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jaden Jackson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
St. John Bosco lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
The win was the eighth in a row for St. John Bosco, bringing their record up to 19-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for Servite, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. John Bosco will welcome Mater Dei at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Monarchs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Braves' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Servite, they will host Orange Lutheran at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Friars 3.8, the Lancers 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
