The Oak Grove Eagles waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Leigh by a score of 63-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Emilie Ngo had a dynamite game for Oak Grove, shooting 5-for-9 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 42 points and 16 rebounds. Maleya Balinton was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Several Longhorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daphne Glim, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Glim is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Chen, who scored 17 points.
Even though they lost, Leigh were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Oak Grove pushed their record up to 10-8 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for Leigh, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oak Grove will take on the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Leigh, they will head out on the road to face off against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
