After both having extra time off, the Cupertino Pioneers and the Independence 76ers will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 5:30 p.m. on December 27th. Cupertino is out to stop a 12-game streak of losses at home dating back to last season.
Cupertino scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Saturday. They walked away with a 42-32 victory over Westmont. That looming 42-32 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Cupertino yet this season.
Meanwhile, Independence came tearing into last Friday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Sequoia by a score of 39-32.
Independence had a senior duo take command as Ashjeet Kaur scored 17 points and Jodi Regondola scored 13 points.
Cupertino's victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-7. As for Independence, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Cupertino came up short against Independence in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 28-24. Can Cupertino avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
