Fort Calhoun had won six straight at home, but on Saturday they bumped up to 16-5 to make it seven. They blew past the Tekamah-Herman Tigers 12-2. Considering the Pioneers have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Kayla Kratz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Fort Calhoun let Lyla Pearson and Madilyn Larrick run wild. Pearson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Larrick went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Larrick a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dehlia Hallberg, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Fort Calhoun was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tekamah-Herman only posted a batting average of .353.
As for Tekamah-Herman, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. They have struggled against Fort Calhoun recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
On Tekamah-Herman's side, they saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Halle Olson, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Fort Calhoun wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-2 win against Auburn on the 4th. As for Tekamah-Herman, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-2 victory against Centennial on the 4th.
