After a string of five wins, the Cleveland Cavaliers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. Their rough 50-28 loss to Providence might stick with them for a while.
Despite the loss, Cleveland still got an impressive performance from Valerie Anzora, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds and four steals. Anzora is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Carissa Foss , who scored no points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Cleveland were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Cleveland's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Providence, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-1.
Cleveland won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Burbank at 10:00 a.m. on December 27th. Burbank will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 857th, while Cleveland is ranked 283rd). Providence will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Los Angeles CES at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.
