Mount de Sales Academy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. The Mount de Sales Academy Sailors and the Howard Lions will face off at 3:30 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Mount de Sales Academy is ranked 94th, while Howard is ranked 83rd).
Mount de Sales Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 25 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 53-27 margin over Centennial. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-14.
Mackenzie Conley was her usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with three steals. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Shelby Lewis, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Howard had to settle for a 33-31 loss against Century last Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Howard has scored all season.
Mount de Sales Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Howard, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.
Mount de Sales Academy took a serious blow against Howard in their previous meeting back in December of 2015, falling 75-36. Can Mount de Sales Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
