The West Phoenix Eagles pushed their score all the way to 55 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 62-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Pointe. West Phoenix has struggled against South Pointe recently, as their game on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
South Pointe's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeremyah Russell led the charge by scoring 21 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Prince Sohn, who scored 18 points along with seven assists and five rebounds.
West Phoenix's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for South Pointe, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Phoenix will challenge Sequoia Pathfinder Verrado Way at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Pointe won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bella Vista College Preparatory School at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th.
