Basketball Recap: Canyon Crest Academy Takes a Loss

Canyon Crest Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Torrey Pines Falcons and fell 62-22. While losing is never fun, the Ravens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1080th, while the Falcons are ranked 204th).

Despite the defeat, Canyon Crest Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Elena Colon posted eight points and ten boards. Colon is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last ten games she's played.

Lily Oliva was her usual excellent self, going 5 of 10 en route to 16 points and three steals for Torrey Pines. That's the most points Oliva has posted since back in November of 2023. Harper Kelley was another key player, putting up six points and nine boards.

Canyon Crest Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Torrey Pines, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-5.

Canyon Crest Academy has already played their next matchup, a 59-22 defeat against Mission Vista on the 15th. As for Torrey Pines, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-54 win against Carlsbad on the 15th.
