The Bothell Cougars had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.1 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 40-38 win over Eastlake. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Bothell has scored all year.
Bothell can attribute much of their success to Makenzie Kooy, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was McKylee Hawkins, who scored eight points along with 16 rebounds.
Bothell pushed their record up to 12-2 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.33 points. As for Eastlake, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5.
Bothell will head out on the road to square off against Caruthers at 11:00 a.m. on Monday. Caruthers has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 216 points over their last three matchups. As for Eastlake, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Emerald Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (Emerald Ridge is ranked 48th, while Eastlake is ranked 30th).
