West Philadelphia has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Thomas A. Edison Owls at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. West Philadelphia will be strutting in after a win while Thomas A. Edison will be coming in after a loss.
Last Wednesday, West Philadelphia took their game at home with ease, bagging a 40-4 win over Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush. The team accrued 29 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Philadelphia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Devin Sadat, who scored six points along with six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. Mouye Tall was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Thomas A. Edison came up short against Paul Robeson on Wednesday and fell 41-31. While losing is never fun, Thomas A. Edison can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Paul Robeson is ranked 129th).
West Philadelphia pushed their record up to 3-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Thomas A. Edison, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
West Philadelphia came up short against Thomas A. Edison in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, falling 50-40. Can West Philadelphia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
