Softball Recap: Troup County Makes It Four in a Row on the Road

Troup County never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past the Upson-Lee Knights 15-0. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Kaitlyn Smalley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Gracie Baker was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Cardwell, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Troup County pushed their record up to 13-15 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Upson-Lee, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-23.

As of now, neither Troup County nor the Knights have any future games scheduled.
