The Midd-West Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 59-18 defeat at the hands of Juniata. Midd-West was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-7.
Despite the defeat, Midd-West saw an underclassman step up: Emma Wagner scored nine points.
Juniata can attribute much of their success to Regan Lowrey, who scored 19 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lowrey has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mylee Landis, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Midd-West bumped their record down to 0-2 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Juniata, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Midd-West will head out on the road to face off against Columbia Montour Vo-Tech at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbia Montour Vo-Tech comes in on a streak of failing to score more than nine points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Juniata won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Selinsgrove at 1:45 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Selinsgrove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
