The Mid-Buchanan Dragons will venture away from home to challenge the Oak Grove Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Oak Grove's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Monday: Mid-Buchanan hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Dragons never let Penney get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Thursday. The Dragons haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Dru Pearson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and six RBI. Pearson is crushing it when it comes to RBI: she's brought in at least three every time she's taken the field this season.
In other pitching news, Kaylea Myers looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run any time she's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, Ella Christie was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Lindy Eaton was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Mid-Buchanan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oak Grove). They blew past Harrisonville 22-6 on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Panthers with their most commanding win of the season.
Mid-Buchanan's record now sits at 15-6. As for Oak Grove, their record is now 17-2.
Mid-Buchanan couldn't quite finish off Oak Grove when the teams last played back in October of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
