The West Valley Eagles will take on the Lassen Grizzlies on Saturday. West Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
West Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Yreka with a sharp 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 16 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Manny Sleezer made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Kale Springer was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Degan Palos, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Lassen waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Miners by a score of 7-2.
Jaxon George spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lassen is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-11 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Connor Kirack, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Alex Wyckoff was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for West Valley and bumps their season record up to 21-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Lassen, their record is now 18-11.
Everything went West Valley's way against Lassen when the teams last played two weeks ago, as West Valley made off with a 13-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
