But thanks to some
exhaustive reporting by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, we have a much better idea of exactly how much they are making.
We all might be in the wrong industry.
Leading the way is
Lake Travis (Austin) head coach Hank Carter, who is bringing in $155,156 annually. The statewide average (for 5A and 6A schools) is $98,668 according to the Star-Telegram.
In Carter's defense, he's earning every dime. The Cavaliers are 91-11 since he took over the program in 2010 with three state titles.
There's also plenty of entertainment value with Lake Travis football. The Cavaliers love to put the ball in the air and averaged 51 points per game last fall en route to Class 6A Division I title.
Despite the eye-popping salaries, the Star-Telegram concluded that many of the top teams in the state are bringing revenue back into their schools.
