The Franklin Panthers can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Marshall with a sharp 49-25 win. Given Franklin's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 293rd, while Marshall is ranked 743rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Franklin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ashley Medina led the charge by scoring 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Toni Vizcaino, who scored ten points.
Despite the loss, Marshall still got an impressive performance from Jeda Taylor, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five blocks. Taylor is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Alicia Quintanar, who scored two points along with ten rebounds and five steals.
Franklin is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. As for Marshall, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-11.
Franklin on the road again on Saturday and play against Camarillo at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. As for Marshall, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Lincoln at 4:30 p.m.
