The Pioneer Patriots waltzed into their match on Friday with 18 straight wins but they left with 19. They claimed a resounding 74-22 victory over Casa Roble at home. Pioneer has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 20 points or more this season.
Olivia Gill was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Keziah Maldonado-lemus, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 assists.
Savannah Sanders and Natalie Mathieson certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Sanders scored nine points, while Mathieson scored eight points.
Pioneer pushed their record up to 22-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Casa Roble, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 13 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-21 record this season.
Pioneer will head out on the road to square off against Mesa Verde at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mesa Verde will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 847th, while Pioneer is ranked 231st). As for Casa Roble, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dixon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
