The Lexington Minutemen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight defeat. The contest between them and Aurora wasn't particularly close, with Lexington falling 52-36. While losing is never fun, Lexington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 236th, while the Huskies are ranked 113th).
It was another big night for Denae Nachtigal, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine steals for Aurora. Nachtigal has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kenna Merrihew, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds.
Lexington's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Aurora, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-11.
Lexington will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on February 8th. As for Aurora, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. Crete is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
