Open Bible Christian extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They came up short against the First Christian Lions, falling 14-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-1 back in March.
Open Bible Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mitchell Parnell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Wes McCall also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
As for First Christian, they pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.
On First Christian's side, Brayden Pedersen and Colten Rebardo made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Pedersen pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rebardo pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Pedersen has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Pedersen went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Rebardo got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, First Christian got a massive performance out of Colin Preston, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Preston has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mason Williams, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Coincidentally, Open Bible Christian and First Christian will both be playing Northside Christian Academy the next time they take the field. The Lions will head out to face Northside Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Warriors will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
