While the Antioch Panthers couldn't quite beat the Liberty Lions on Tuesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 26-point loss they were dealt last Friday. Antioch fell just short of the Lions by a score of 38-35. While losing is never fun, Antioch can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 456th, while the Lions are ranked 188th).
It was another big night for Madison Perea, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 22 rebounds for Liberty. Perea hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Lea Salinas beamen, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Antioch now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Liberty, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-9.
Antioch will head out on the road to square off against the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Freedom and the Panthers are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Liberty, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. Deer Valley has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 18.
