Baseball Recap: Academy of Careers & Exploration Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

While Academy of Careers & Exploration's win against Cate wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Academy of Careers & Exploration came out on top in a nail-biter against Cate on Saturday, sneaking past 5-3. The victory was nothing new for the Eagle as they're now sitting on three straight.

Silas Urtiaga made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zavier Garcia, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

Academy of Careers & Exploration picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-6. As for Cate, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Academy of Careers & Exploration will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Victor Valley Christian at 3:15 p.m. on April 1. As for Cate, they will head out to square off against Dunn at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give Cate their first taste of in-conference action this season.
