Morse is 2-7 against Academy of Our Lady of Peace since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Morse Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Pilots at 6:00 p.m. Morse will be strutting in after a win while Academy of Our Lady of Peace will be coming in after a loss.
In what's become a running theme this season, Morse gave their fans yet another huge win on Monday. They really took it to Mar Vista for the full four quarters, racking up a 66-14 win at home. Given Morse's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Mar Vista is ranked 1167th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Morse can attribute much of their success to Jayla White, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, and Kyla Palpallatoc, who scored 16 points along with six assists and four steals. Palpallatoc hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Deveney Gonzalez, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Academy of Our Lady of Peace's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 74-31 loss at the hands of Cathedral Catholic. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Academy of Our Lady of Peace in their matchups with Cathedral Catholic: they've now lost nine in a row.
Morse is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which somehow isn't as good as their 17-5 record this season. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season.
Morse beat Academy of Our Lady of Peace 60-51 in their previous meeting on January 5th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Morse since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
