Spanish Springs relied on the efforts of Aaliyah Vance, who scored 14 points along with four steals, and Reese Wakefield, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Wakefield scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Layni Noonkester, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Galena had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They secured a 44-38 W over McQueen on Saturday.
Ramona Peterson was the offensive standout of the contest as she scored 24 points along with eight steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Mia Turner was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Spanish Springs has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Galena, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Spanish Springs hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 53 points per game. It's a different story for Galena, though, as they've been averaging only 37.3 points per game. The only thing between Spanish Springs and another offensive beatdown is Galena. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Spanish Springs didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Galena in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 46-40 victory.
