Even though the Lovett Lions scored an imposing 61 points on Saturday, the Walker Wolverines still came out on top. Walker enjoyed a cozy 75-61 win over Lovett. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Walker.
Walker was led to victory by Noah Pederson and Moustapha Diop. Pederson scored 23 points along with 5 rebounds, while Diop dropped a double-double on 23 points and 21 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Diop has scored at least 25% of Walker's points. Another player making a difference was Erik Knapp, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Lovett saw an underclassman step up: Kingston Whitty scored 29 points. The match was Whitty's third in a row with at least ten points. Darrell Dickens iii was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 6 rebounds.
Walker now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lovett, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walker will take on Business Engineering Science Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Business Engineering Science Tech is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Lovett is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Hampton at 7:30 p.m. on November 28th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Hampton is ranked 207th, while Lovett is ranked 222nd).
