After four games on the road, St. Joseph Notre Dame is heading back home. They will take on the Castro Valley Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, St. Joseph Notre Dame beat Convent of the Sacred Heart 36-27. Given St. Joseph Notre Dame's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 445th, while Convent of the Sacred Heart is ranked 1020th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Castro Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Granada on Monday, taking the game 52-42. The win was just what Castro Valley needed coming off of a 68-42 defeat in their prior contest.
It was another big night for Naomi Chew, who scored 17 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Chew set a new season high mark in rebounds with five. Nicole Guzman was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds.
St. Joseph Notre Dame has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Castro Valley, their win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-4.
St. Joseph Notre Dame took a serious blow against Castro Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2014, falling 55-24. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point St. Joseph Notre Dame was down 25-5.
