The Coronado Islanders lost against the Madison Warhawks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Coronado fell 38-28 to Madison. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Coronado in their matchups with Madison: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Coronado still got an impressive performance from Selena Herrera, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Susanna Pate, who scored seven points.
Madison had a senior duo take command as Sierra Minshew dropped a double-double on 12 points and 19 rebounds and Amyaha Walker scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Walker has scored at least a third of Madison's points.
Coronado's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Madison, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.
Coronado will head out on the road to challenge Kearny at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Madison, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against El Cajon Valley at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Madison focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
