The Cumberland Clippers will challenge the Lincoln Lions at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Cumberland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Cumberland needed a bit of extra time to put away Cranston West. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Falcons 4-3. The win was nothing new for the Clippers as they're now sitting on three straight.
Liam Monahan spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aidan Ray, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Ben Jahnz was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Lincoln can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They came out on top against Coventry by a score of 5-2.
Isaac Cabral made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lincoln is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 0-8 otherwise. Cabral was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.
Cabral wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Marshall, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Cumberland's victory bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Lincoln, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-9.
Lincoln's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cumberland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. It's a different story for Lincoln, though, as they've only averaged .236. Will they be able to contain Cumberland's hitters?
Cumberland came out on top in a nail-biter against Lincoln in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Clippers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
