Foresthill had won three straight on the road, but on Thursday they bumped their record up to 9-7 to make it four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Wolves, sneaking past 18-16. This was a revenge game for the Wildfires: when they faced off against the Wolves back in March, they had to take a 10-5 defeat.

Hunter Byrum made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Byrum was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. He has become a key player for Foresthill: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, CJ Nieves was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Abe Robenolt, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Foresthill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
As for Western Sierra Collegiate Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-2 Valley Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69% over those games).
On Western Sierra Collegiate Academy's side, Jackson Dawson led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Alex Azevedo, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Foresthill does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Western Sierra Collegiate Academy, they will host Valley Christian at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lions will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Wolves surely won't give up without a fight.
