The Highland Tech Rams won the last time they faced the Cherryville Ironmen, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Highland Tech took down Cherryville 56-40. Given Highland Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while Cherryville is ranked 543rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Addie McCraw, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 rebounds. McCraw is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Thomas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Highland Tech and bumps their season record up to 11-3. As for Cherryville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Highland Tech will square off against Bessemer City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bessemer City will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Cherryville, they will head out on the road to challenge NCSSM: Morganton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. NCSSM: Morganton has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 6.
