Camarillo has gone a perfect 3-0 against Valencia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Scorpions will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vikings at 1:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
If Camarillo beats Valencia with five runs on Saturday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Scorpions didn't even let Moorpark on the board on Friday, marking the Scorpions' second-straight 5-0 shutout.
Camarillo got a great performance from Braden Huber as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Huber has posted since back in March.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brayden Smith, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Valencia ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Golden Valley, sneaking past 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Vikings have posted since February 17th.
Caleb Crawford looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Kyle Josing was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Yamamura, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
Valencia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 10.6.
Camarillo's win bumped their record up to 10-13. As for Valencia, their victory bumped their record up to 9-12.
Camarillo came out on top in a nail-biter against Valencia in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Do the Scorpions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
