Diego Villarreal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Villarreal was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.
Villarreal wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Carrillo, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double. Another was Nathaniel Guerrero, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, McFarland got the win against Frazier Mountain on Tuesday by a conclusive 12-1. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won four in a row.
McFarland let Cris Soto and Eddie Vasquez run wild. Soto went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Vasquez went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Soto a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Perez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.
McFarland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive games.
Chavez's record is now 13-4. As for McFarland, their record now sits at 7-8-1.
McFarland's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chavez hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. It's a different story for McFarland, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain Chavez's hitters?
Chavez took their victory against McFarland in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-1 score. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
