The New Kent Trojans waltzed into their match on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They managed a 75-71 victory over Lafayette. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Kyle Diggs, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Will Ross, who scored 14 points.
New Kent's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Lafayette, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Kent will take on York at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. York will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings (they are ranked 251st, while New Kent is ranked 62nd). As for Lafayette, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Warhill at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
