The Walnut Mustangs and the Dos Pueblos Chargers squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but sadly the Walnut Mustangs had to settle for second. They took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chargers. While losing is never fun, Walnut can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Dos Pueblos is ranked 136th).
Walnut lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Katelyn Lu, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Claire Olia was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Walnut and nudges their season record down to 17-12. As for Dos Pueblos, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-9.
Walnut does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Dos Pueblos also has no future games currently scheduled.
