Cherry Creek hasn't had much luck against Grandview recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bruins will look to defend their home field against the Wolves at 4:15 p.m. Cherry Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Cherry Creek will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Arapahoe, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bruins never let the Warriors get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Thursday. Considering the Bruins have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Emma Brown, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Arapahoe off the board.
At the plate, Harper Bostock was incredible, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Elena Sepesi was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Cherry Creek lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arapahoe didn't launched any.
Arapahoe hit Grandview with a four-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wolves fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Wolves have suffered since August 22nd.
Sasha Kennedy made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games she's played. Another player making a difference was Monroe Donaldson, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Cherry Creek has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Grandview, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cherry Creek hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. However, it's not like Grandview struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cherry Creek might still be hurting after the 9-2 loss they got from Grandview in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Will the Bruins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
