The Westmont Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Los Altos Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Los Altos took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Westmont, who comes in off a win.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Westmont turned things around against Milpitas on Saturday. They never let the Trojans get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. The Warriors not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2024.
Vinnie Moreno made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Moreno was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-5 with one triple and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Peyton Hines and Kainoa Raub did most of the damage at the plate: Hines went 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Raub scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Hines a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Roman Soto, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Westmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Los Altos' undefeated season came to an end after four games on Saturday. They fell 7-2 to King's Academy. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Los Altos saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aaron Baum, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Westmont's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3-1. As for Los Altos, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Westmont has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Los Altos struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Westmont skirted past Los Altos 1-0 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westmont since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
