After flying high against the Palisades Pirates on Saturday, the Panther Valley Panthers came back down to earth. Panther Valley was the victim of a tough 70-46 loss at the hands of North Schuylkill on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Panther Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 248th, while North Schuylkill is ranked ninth).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Morgan Orsulak, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds. Maddison Maynard was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five rebounds.
Panther Valley's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-3. As for North Schuylkill, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
Panther Valley will head out on the road to face off against Mahanoy Area at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North Schuylkill will be home for the holidays to greet Shamokin Area at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Shamokin Area is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
