Basketball Game Preview: Rio Linda Knights vs. Casa Roble Rams

Having just played yesterday, the Rio Linda Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Casa Roble Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Rio Linda has nine straight wins, Casa Roble has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Rio Linda is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Natomas: they outscored them in every quarter. Rio Linda put the hurt on Natomas with a sharp 70-48 victory on Thursday. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rio Linda to victory, but perhaps none more so than Savannah Grant, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. That's the most points Grant has posted since back in December of 2024. Mariah Walton was another key player, going 8 of 13 en route to 21 points and three steals.

Rio Linda smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in nine consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Casa Roble lost 46-21 to Destiny Christian Academy on Thursday. The game marked the Rams' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Rio Linda's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.5 points per game. As for Casa Roble, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.

Everything came up roses for Rio Linda against Casa Roble when the teams last played on January 10th, as the team secured a 66-33 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rio Linda since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
