The Chaparral Pumas will head out on the road to face off against the Shadow Hills Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Chaparral sitting on three straight wins and Shadow Hills on six.
Last Tuesday, Chaparral was able to grind out a solid victory over Aquinas, taking the game 51-40.
Chaparral's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Angela Dela Cruz, who scored 18 points along with 6 steals. Another player making a difference was Lexa Ava Li, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Shadow Hills blew past Valley View, posting a 71-32 victory at home. Given Shadow Hills' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Valley View is ranked 173rd), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Victoria Hyatt was her usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Analiah Cardona, who scored 11 points.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 6-2.
Chaparral was able to grind out a solid victory over Shadow Hills when the teams last played back in December of 2018, winning 58-50. Does Chaparral have another victory up their sleeve, or will Shadow Hills turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
