Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Centennial walked away with it. They put the hurt on the Villa Park Spartans with a sharp 66-43 victory on Thursday. The Huskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Centennial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cydenee Bryant, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Bryant has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more boards the last ten times she's played. Ahjoy Turner was another key player, going 6-for-13 en route to 16 points.
Villa Park lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Lauren Wolfe, who went 5-for-11 on her way to 10 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Sturdivant, who posted nine points and seven boards.
The win (which was Centennial's third in a row) raised their record to 16-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points over those games. As for Villa Park, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 24-5.
Centennial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 83-76 defeat against Brentwood School on the 15th. Villa Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
