McCollum and Southwest are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The McCollum Cowboys will host the Southwest Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with McCollum sitting on four straight wins and Southwest on three.
Last Monday, McCollum beat Southwest Legacy 12-8. That's two games straight that the Cowboys have won by exactly four runs.

RUIZ MADELYNN spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, MARTINEZ LAUREN was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of GARZA BRYANNA, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Southwest ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against Southwest Legacy by a score of 7-4.
Southwest also let their pitcher toss all eight innings and she was also dialed-in: Sienna Diaz gave up four earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Genaya Santos and Tommie Betancourt did most of the damage at the plate: Santos scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Betancourt scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4. Santos also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Paris Alaquinez, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.
Southwest's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for McCollum, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
McCollum skirted past Southwest 4-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Will McCollum repeat their success, or does Southwest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
