The Poth Pirates will square off against the Hondo Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Poth will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Poth is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over Pearsall on Tuesday. With that win, the Pirates brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.
Major Luna made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Luna was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played.

In other batting news, Poth got a massive performance out of Collin Korb, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave Korb a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caiden Gorzell, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Poth always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .520 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Hondo came up short against Bandera on Friday and fell 9-4.
Hondo saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rudy Alvarado, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Mason Barr was another, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Poth's victory bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Hondo, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6-1.
Monday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Poth has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. However, it's not like Hondo struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
