On Friday, Shelby-Rising City humbled Cedar Bluffs with a 47-18 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Shelby-Rising City.
Among those leading the charge was Taya Pinneo, who scored 25 points. The contest was Pinneo's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ava Larmon, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Despite the loss, Cedar Bluffs had strong showings from Jakiah Mccoy, who scored seven points along with six rebounds, and Madelyn Elizabeth thomas, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Elizabeth thomas is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Cedar Bluffs struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Shelby-Rising City now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Cedar Bluffs, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Shelby-Rising City won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sandy Creek. Sandy Creek comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Cedar Bluffs, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lyons-Decatur Northeast on Tuesday. Hopefully Lyons-Decatur Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday.
