West Central recap October 1, 2013
Paynesville extended the longest winning streak in West Central this week by beating Yellow Medicine East, 52-19. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Bulldogs.
The Sting fell to Paynesville 52-19 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Benson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Aaron Ahrndt threw for 89 yards and Ryan Hampton had 54 yards receiving. On the ground Ahrndt chipped in 34 yards. Lincoln Pahl helped Benson's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 31 yards.
Christan Larson made the biggest impact on defense this week as Benson fell to Sauk Centre. He.
Ahrndt was the best running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 34 yards as Scott Gonnermon's team lost to the Mainstreeters. Zach Jensen also contributed to the rushing game with 17 yards on the ground.
Ahrndt has thrown for 451 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, while Hampton has 17 catches for 224 yards. Ahrndt also leads the league in rushing with 365 yards.
An important game coming up in West Central this week will be when Sauk Centre takes on Minnewaska Area. At the moment, the Mainstreeters are in second, while the Lakers are in third.
B O L D and Melrose played the closest game in the league this week, with B O L D eventually emerging with a 23-17 victory.
