Meanwhile, Orange Lutheran got themselves on the board against Rancho Cucamonga on Thursday, but Rancho Cucamonga never followed suit. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the Cougars. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.
The result came thanks to Gary Morse's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Orange Lutheran was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rancho Cucamonga only posted a batting average of .048.
Orange Lutheran pushed their record up to 23-6 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Los Alamitos, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-9-2 record this season.
Los Alamitos came out on top in a nail-biter against Orange Lutheran in their previous matchup back in March of 2015, sneaking past 8-6. Will the Griffins repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
