The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Saint Joseph in their matchups with St. Monica: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Saint Joseph saw an underclassman step up: Olivia Martinez dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Martinez continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Saint Joseph has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-9 record this season. As for St. Monica, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-9.
Saint Joseph will head out on the road to challenge Serra at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Serra is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. St. Monica will take on Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Cantwell-Sacred Heart of Mary is ranked 250th, while St. Monica is ranked 249th).
