The Linden Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Stagg, falling 65-20. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Linden in their matchups with Stagg: they've now lost five in a row.
Stagg was led to victory by Destiny Martinez and Jameelah Pharms. Martinez scored 25 points, while Pharms scored 30 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Pharms has scored at least a third of Stagg's points. Another player making a difference was Kayla Ogle, who scored six points.
Linden bumped their record down to 1-18 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.4 points per game. As for Stagg, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Linden will take on Weston Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Weston Ranch is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Stagg, they will head out on the road to square off against Chavez at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
