The Longview Lobos will face off against the Southlake Carroll Dragons at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Longview comes in on ten and Southlake Carroll on 14.
Longview is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They breezed by DeSoto to the tune of 50-14. Considering the Lobos have won seven matchups by more than 19 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
It was another big night for Kelvin Washington, who rushed for 273 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 94-yard run. Longview also got a significant boost from Johnny Hamilton, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 87 yards.
Washington was just one part of a punishing run game: Longview was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 442 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October.

Longview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Da'Kayden Carter and Kason Brooks. What's more, Brooks also racked up 13 total tackles, the most he's had since back in October. Another thorn in DeSoto's side was Bryan Peoples, who made 13 total tackles and defended two passes.
Meanwhile, Southlake Carroll faced Guyer in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Southlake Carroll walked away with a 56-45 win over Guyer.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Angelo Renda and Kevin Sperry. Renda had a great game and rushed for 161 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries. Meanwhile, Sperry was balling out in the loss, rushing for 175 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 313 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per attempt.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Southlake Carroll's defensive line and their 6.5 sacks. Jake Lucky was especially locked on to Guyer's QB and sacked him twice. Parker Harris was another major factor on D, making 13 total tackles (1.0 for loss) and snagged an interception.
Southlake Carroll's victory bumped their record up to 14-0. As for Longview, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
Saturday's contest might be decided in the on the ground. Longview has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 270.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Southlake Carroll struggles in that department as they've been averaging 215.1 rushing yards. It's looking like Saturday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
