The Rampart Rams will venture away from home to square off against the Grand Junction Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Rampart has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Rampart came up short against Fountain-Fort Carson on Monday, falling 15-3.
Rampart saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Victoria Kendall, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Grand Junction waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Red Hawks.
Kloe Donahue spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up ten Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ashley Gonzalez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in September of 2024. Yzavel Esparza was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Grand Junction kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive contests.
Rampart has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Grand Junction, their record is now 10-4.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rampart hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Grand Junction struggles in that department as they've averaged .370. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rampart suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to Grand Junction in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
